Justin Bieber put on a shirt ... and a dazzling display of humanitarianism at a celebrity gala in Cannes, where he dropped $545K ... for charity.

Bieber -- all gussied up in a black, double-breasted suit -- hit up the amfAR gala, which raises money for AIDS research. People started making huge pledges of money -- one wealthy gent pledged $545K and Bieber -- quietly and without fanfare -- matched it.

We're told the crowd -- which included Leo DiCaprio, Heidi Klum, John Travolta, and Sharon Stone -- was stunned. Justin was asked if he seriously wanted to pledge such a huge amount and he said yep. Biebs said he just felt inspired to do something good.

‘Will it never end?” a longtime John Travolta friend said Tuesday with a sigh.

As Travolta and wife Kelly Preston made a big show of affection on the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of his new film “Savages,” the actor’s attorney Marty Singer was fighting off yet another lawsuit.   one the top Hollywood lawyer called “ludicrous.” This latest suit was filed by ex-Royal Caribbean Cruise steward Fabian Zanzi, claiming the actor propositioned him sexually on a 2009 cruise and then, when turned down, offered Zanzi $12,000 to keep quiet.

“John is adamant about fighting these allegations he made inappropriate sexual advances to all those men, but it’s certainly taking a big toll. … I don’t know how he can deal with all of it,” my source said.

“If it’s untrue, I can understand his anger, but these people keep coming out of the closet, so to speak.”

 Many at the “Savages” premiere were very cynical about Travolta and Preston’s smooching, with several witnesses saying it looked “very staged.” The couple only posed for photos and took no questions from the assembled media. Travolta also avoided questions at the earlier “Savages” press junket by doing most of his interviews paired with other cast members. insuring there would be no personal questions, only ones related to the Oliver Stone movie Travolta was contractually required to promote.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston Are Expecting 2010

 

The new cover of Star reports that John Travolta and the 47-year-old Kelly Preston are expecting a child. "Kelly is about three months pregnant," a source told the magazine for their cover story. "Both she and John are absolutely over the moon."

Now the family confirms the news on Travolta's official site. "It's impossible to keep a secret ... especially one as wonderful as this. We want to be the first to share this great news with everyone that we are expecting a new addition to our family. Love, John, Kelly and Ella"

Travolta and Preston wed in 1991 and had two children, daughter Ella Bleu, born in 2000 and their late son Jett, who died in 2009 at age 16. Jett, who had a history of seizures, died on January 2 last year while at the Travoltas' residence in the Bahamas. Both John Travolta and Kelly Preston have kept low profiles since the death of Jett.

Preston had spoken to PEOPLE back in 2007 about her desire for a third child. "I thought I would get pregnant when Ella was about 4," she said in August of 2007. "Then I wanted to work a little bit more, and all of a sudden she's 7. I'm not pregnant now, but I don't have another movie project that's all I'll say."
