The honeymoon was cut short when Lance, 41, and Keri Layne, 33, were the last team to check in on the Dubai leg of The Amazing Race 15. But another race began when the competitive lawyer and finance manager got home to Massachusetts with just two weeks left to plan their wedding. Carrie Bell
In Sunday’s episode, you claimed you were racing worse than any other team in the show’s history. Looking back, is that true?
Lance: Probably not the worst of all time. We blew the driving. Bottom line is we just couldn’t navigate Dubai.
Keri: We hadn’t slept in a very, very long time. In hindsight, we should have got directions; then found the car. Everything was moving so fast. But even when you got directions, the exits were often spelled differently. The language was so different.
Lance: We should have stuck with the group. Once the caravan left, we were screwed. Losing five minutes in race time is like losing an hour in real time.
Your line, “No cheap wins” referred to your hatred of wins based on luck. Can you blame any of your Philimination on luck?
Lance: Some people didn’t like that. I just said what was on my mind. Going out sucks no matter what, but it would have sucked more if it were because we couldn’t get on a plane. As far as the Dubai leg, we all came in at the same time. Certain factors that keep you in the airport are out for your control.
Several teams shared directions, info and even ladles.
Lance: There was a love fest going on between the teams and that carried over into the game. Cheyne and Meghan did a fast forward and no one challenged them. The brothers waited for the girls when their car broke down. That was not my mentality. When we were in the heat of the battle, I put myself in a position where I hated the others teams. We weren’t going to help anybody or wait for anybody unless it benefited us somehow.
Keri: You can personally like people. But when it is competition time, we leave that on the sidelines.
Lance was the guy viewers loved to hate, yet others defend you. Marcy even called you a sweetheart.
Keri: His secret is out. His image is ruined.
Do you think it was a fair edit?
Lance: If you’re going to [complain] about the edit, you shouldn’t have gone on a reality show in the first place. I gave them every bite they used to tell their story and I’m fine with it. I didn’t come on to be the hero or the villain. There was not much gripping enough about our story for America to jump on the Lance and Keri bandwagon. We weren’t the all-girl team. We weren’t coming out. We weren’t the black and white couple. We were the people that came to win.
Keri: They have hours of footage and there’s no way to show it all. If you compare our first leg to our last, you see that we came a long way. We grew as a team.
Did it help or hurt your relationship?
Keri: As a couple, we’re stronger for it. Before the Race, we’d never gotten in a big fight. Competition brings out a different side of people and we learned to respect those differences.
Lance: I wasn’t a great teammate at the start. I was a one-man band. By Cambodia, we were working together and leaning on each other. My recommendation is not to go on this show to test your relationship.
Did the wedding happen?
Lance: It did. Honestly, the two weeks after we got back and leading up to the wedding were more stressful than racing. Then I was really getting yelled at.
Keri: My dress hadn’t come in and the catering wasn’t decided. I was stressed. But nothing compared to walking down the aisle and seeing Lance’s face, knowing that we had gone through this stressful competition and were now sure we were meant to be together.
How was the Race as a honeymoon option?
Keri: It was like a working honeymoon. Couples pay for therapy and do roleplay and we can see where our communication breaks down on TV.
Lance: Elimination Station was more like a honeymoon at the beach. It was relaxing and we got to spend time with the others without competition in the way.
Keri: It was cool to find out that Garrett and Jess had gotten engaged because I had someone to talk about weddings with. Monty Brinton.

Dancing with the Stars Donny ‘Darko’ Osmond Tangos to the Top
He top 10 battled it out with two passionate dances. the Argentine tango and paso doble . on Monday’s Dancing with the Stars, but also got their groove on during this season’s first group performance: the disco-friendly hustle.
Donny Osmond danced his way to the top of the leader’s board with an intense Argentine tango that almost earned a perfect 30. “This is a transformation,” Carrie Ann Inaba told him and partner Kym Johnson. Bruno Tonioli proclaimed, “finally [you're] turning into Donny Darko”
She got the crowd on its feet, but the judges told Mya that she had to work on the emotional aspect of the dance. “You move so well,” Carrie Ann said of her tango, “[but] it was distant without an inner dialogue.” Head judge Len Goodman disagreed. “I never really know what I like until I see it and, I’ve got to say, I liked that,” he said.
Could Mark Dacascos be season 9’s dark horse? The Iron Chef America chairman’s paso doble along with a flip and a handful of air kicks surprised all three judges, especially Bruno who simply stated he was “on it! Talk about sharp.”
Model Joanna Krupa was this close to nailing her tango but stumbled briefly after a misstep with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who filled in for her sick partner Derek Hough. “Getting a new partner is a bit like getting a new pair of shoes,” said Len. “I think you did a great job under the circumstances.” Added Carrie Ann, “You guys matched so well.”

Dancing with the Stars Will Salute Pop King Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson will receive a 16-dancer salute on the Oct. 20 live results show of Dancing with the Stars. Executive producer Conrad Green tells PEOPLE that the show’s professional dancers have been preparing a special tribute to three of Jackson’s most iconic songs.
“A lot of our dancers were very upset when he died. He was an inspiration to them and they wanted to do something fitting to honor him,” Green says.
Jackson’s music has been featured “like 13 or 14 times during the course of the show,” he says. “This is quite personal for a lot of our dancers and our production.”
The number will be choreographed by several of the DWTS pros, including Mark Ballas, Derek Hough, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani and Cheryl Burke.
In season 2, Burke and her celebrity partner Drew Lachey performed to Jackson’s “Thriller.” The routine earned Burke her first Emmy nomination for choreography. “It’s such an honor to choreograph and perform in this tribute,” Burke says. “His music and his artistry was such an inspiration to me as a dancer.”
As for which songs will be featured, Green says he wants to “keep that a surprise for our audience. They are three of his most iconic songs of his career.” Green admits that picking just three songs wasn’t easy given Jackson’s long list of hits.
“To be honest, we could do a whole show to his songs,” he says. “But we want it to be compact and memorable. It will be a heartfelt performance from our dancers.”
Jackson’s siblings, LaToya and Jermaine, have been to the show this season, and DWTS singer Darryl Phinnessee worked with Jackson and performed at his July 7 memorial. “We have a lot of crossover with people that know him, people that worked with him, and were inspired for him,” Green says, “and we hope to give a tribute that is fitting.” Monica Rizzo

Tina Fey Celebrity Shares Alice’s Halloween Costume Ideas
Halloween takes on a decidedly different tone as toddlers turn into preschoolers, and it’s a phenomenon Tina Fey knows all too well. The 30 Rock star said during a Wednesday appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman that daughter Alice Zenobia, 4, has begun to voice an opinion on what she’ll dress up as on October 31st.
Noting that when they’re babies “you can just stuff them in” whatever you want — “You’re going to be a ham sandwich! We’re all going to laugh at you,” Tina quips — not so with Alice this year, who has her costume choices narrowed down to two: a “Barbie butterfly princess” or a “robot that eats bacon.” Tina adds,
“So naturally I’m trying to play it cool…I want her to be a robot that eats bacon but I’m trying not to push it too much. ‘You could eat bacon the whole night!’”
As for Alice’s affection for Barbie, Tina, 39, says that it was recently muddled somewhat by an Internet advertisement.
“I was on my computer and there was a photo ad for The Girls Next Door, about Hugh Hefner and his girlfriends,” Tina recalls. “My daughter came running over and said, ‘Mommy, what are those Barbies? Can I get those?’”
