The year of 2012 has certainly had its fair share of Tinseltown babies, and it looks like the boom isn't slowing down - as pop star Shakira has just announced she’s expecting.
He 35 year-old Colombian songstress took to her website on Wednesday (September 19) to confirm the exciting news, as well as let her fans know she will need to take a career rest for a little while.
“As some of you may know, [boyfriend] Gerard (Piqué) and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby! At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days,” Shakira wrote.
Adding to the news, she continued, “This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival........ I’d like to thank Clear Channel and my fans for their constant love and understanding. Big kiss!”
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer and her beau confirmed their relationship back in March of 2011 and both are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child.
