The 56th Dada Saheb Phalke Awards for films this year were presented to Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, Kangana Ranaut, etc. The Awards were presented at the Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi by our distinguished President Shrimati Pratibha Patil, on Friday.

The prestigious Award for cinematography was given to Mr. V.K Murthy. This was the first time that a National Award had been conferred on to a cinematographer, ever since they had started the Awards in 1969.The veteran cinematographer, had worked in the film’Kagaz Ke Phool’, the first film to be cinemascope.

The National Awards were presented to 130 Awardees, which had a total of 69 categories.

The Best feature Film Award went to Anirudha Roy Chowdhury’s film’Antaheen’, which is a Bengali film. The Best director Award went to the Tamil film maker, Bala for the film, ‘Naam Kadavul’.
Priyanka received the Award for Best Actress for the film’ Fashion’. Arjun Rampal was given for Best supporting actor for the film ‘Rock On’. Kangana Ranaut got an Award for the Best Supporting Actress for the same film’ Fashion’ as well.

With these Awards, Priyanka has become the youngest female star of bollywood to receive an Award at the National level. We do wish the star from the bottom of our hearts.
